Beauty Wise Wednesday: May Ipsy Bag review

Well it has been just about a month since I got my May Ipsy bag. I have been using all the products throughout the month so that I could give you all my honest opinion of them. If your new to my blog. Ipsy bags are a monthly subscription where I pay $10 and I get a bag in the mail monthly filled with beauty "samples". I say that with quotations because more often than not you get full sized products.
Without further ado, here are my thoughts on the May Ipsy bag!

Product #1: Pacifica Coconut Crushed Pearl Luminizing Body Butter 2fl oz: Sells on their website for $7.00

Product Description: Shimmer and glow with coconut oil, pearls and sea minerals; ultra-nourishing tropical phytonutrients.
Coupon: 20% off on the Pacifica web site
Review: I love this lotion!!! the smell is so perfect for summer and I love having the slight
shimmer. Just makes my arms glow when I wear it. I really am going to buy something from the Pacifica web site one of these days. I know I would just love their candles!

Product #2: Pacifica Island Vanilla Perfume Roll-on .33fl oz. This is a full sized product that sells for $12 on their website.

Product Description: From their website: Sensual blend sets sweet and sultry vanilla absolute, with honey-jasmine notes and a touch of fruitiness, against a deep and beautiful base of tea.
Coupon: Same as product #1
Review: This is a very yummy perfume! the scent is very warm and kinda sexy. My only complaint is that it doesn't seem to roll out much so I really need to roll out for a bit to feel like I'm getting anything that people would be able to smell on me. I typically start by rolling it on my wrists and then once I've gotten the roller started I'll roll it on my neck/behind my ears.

Product #3: Juice Beauty Lip Gloss in Champagne .14oz. This is half the size of the gloss they sell on their web site so it's worth about $7.50.

Product Description: From the website: This Reflecting Gloss will give your lips the most brilliant shine on earth. The combination of antioxidant-rich berries, minerals and sweet agave will wrap your lips in radiant color
Coupon: 20% off on the Juice Beauty web site
Review: This product I think is all natural and you can totally taste the fruits it is made with. It's not sticky at all (just a little grainy) The color is very subtle which I like. I have used this on it's own and over my lip stain. I love it, I just need to remember to re-apply it because it obviously doesn't last too long.

Product #4: Yaby concealer refill in the color Buff. This seems to be a full sized refill that they sell on their website for $4.85

The color looks paler that it really is.
Product Description: No real description available but a concealer doesn't really need much describing.
Coupon: 20% off the Yaby website
Review: I'm pretty excited about this product. I just might have found my new concealer. I love how thick it is! it goes on very smooth and I feel like it doesn't end up looking cakey like other concealers I have tried. I will probably be buying this as my permanent concealer in the future.

Product #5: Zoya nail polish in the color Jacqueline. This is a full sized product that sells on their website for $8.00.

Product Description:  Light creamy beige has slight warm undertones and a glossy crème finish.
Coupon: Buy 2 get 1 free on the Zoya website
Review: So I traded my Jacqueline cream color of Neely which is a pastel/mint green color. It went on very smoothly, didn't take too long to dry and lasted for over a week with only minor chips and of course grow out. I got more compliments on this nail polish than I ever have on any other nail polish. I just love the color!

Once again Ipsy has given us an amazing bag filled with products I love!! My only complaint is that I went to buy from these companies after trying out the products for the month and the coupon codes had already expired. I really think they need to keep the coupon does good for at least two months because we need time to try out the products to decide if we really want to buy something or not.

Beauty Wise Wednesday: My May Ipsy Bag

Sorry this post is late. I have been suffering from a horrible stomach ache and haven't really been able to function. Anyways, time to get to the exciting stuff... My May Ipsy bag!!!

This months bag is a fun blue, orange and white chevron print. I'm so in love with chevron print these days that this bag is very exciting!

(sorry for the horrible picture, my stomach ache made me not try so hard to capture a good image)

First Impression: I'm super excited about this product! I absolutely loved the last Pacifica blood orange body butter I got in my first Ipsy bag so I know I will love this one. The shimmer is a fun addition for the summer!

First Impression: I'm excited I got the vanilla scent because I'm always drawn to vanilla products. This is a great size to keep in my purse!

First Impression: Pretty excited about this product as well. It's a perfect color for me, not too far out of my comfort zone. Plus it will look great over other lip products to maybe tone down their color.

Product #4: Concealer refill in the color Buff. This seems to be a full sized refill that they sell on their website for $4.85
Product Description: No real description available but a concealer doesn't really need much describing.
Coupon: 20% off the Yaby website
First Impression: This was something I wasn't sure about when I saw it in the preview pictures from the Facebook page because I wasn't sure if they would send me the correct color, but they did and I'm excited to try it out. As you know I am still on the hunt for the perfect concealer.

Not Pictured above:
Zoya-Nail-Polish-Jacqueline-ZP654

Product #5: Zoya nail polish in the color Jacqueline. This is a full sized product that sells on their website for $8.00.
Product Description:  Light creamy beige has slight warm undertones and a glossy crème finish.
Coupon: Buy 2 get 1 free on the Zoya website
First Impression: I wasn't in love the color simply because it seems very similar to colors I already had and I wanted something a little different. Luckily my friend got a minty green color so we are trading. Unfortunately I have given her the polish I got but haven't gotten the one she got from her so I don't have an actual picture to share.

Total value of the bag: $39.35... Once again I only paid $10!! Such a great value and I love everything I got. Don't forget you can sign up at Ipsy.com

Beauty Wise Wednesday, On Thursday: My First Beauty Hau!l!

I didn't really have anything to blog about yesterday since I hadn't gotten my Ipsy bag yet so I thought I'd wait till today to blog since I knew I was going to go shopping. I actually got a lot more than I thought I was going to get but didn't spend too much!

Boots expert sensitive light moisturizing lotion: Picked this up at Target and I'm excited to try it. It was recommended by Hannah over at The "krustee" BLOG

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails hardener: This is something I have been using for years. I feel like it really works and it's so inexpensive!

Maybelline The Mega Plush waterproof mascara in brownish black: I picked up waterproof because I feel like I am constantly getting raccoon eyes from regular mascara. I just LOVE the wand in this variety.

Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 in Creamy Natural: I just finished up this stuff today so I had to run out and buy some more. I want to try a new foundation but I didn't want to not have this just in case I didn't like the new stuff.

e.l.f. Flawless Eyeshadow palette in Happy Hour: I wanted to try out to e.l.f. stuff cause I have heard lots of good things about it and once again so inexpensive!

e.l.f. Tone Correcting Powder: I have always wanted to try something like this and at $3 I figured why not.

e.l.f. Lip Stain in Pink Petal: I'm not huge on lip things cause I always forget to put them on but I like the concept of a lip stain. I'm pretty sure one of my friends has this lip stain and likes it.

e.l.f. Powder Brush: I've been using an old cheap blush brush to put on my powder each day so I thought I'd pick this up.

Beauty Wise Wednesday: April Ipsy Bag Review

My May Ipsy bag is about to be sent out tomorrow so I knew it was time to give you guys my final thoughts about my April Ipsy bag...

Product #1: Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal w/Argon oil. .85 fl oz. The full size product is $21.95 for 4.2 oz on Ulta.com. I figure that this sample size is a value of  $4.40.
Coupon Code: Save $5
Product description: Nourishing Styling Treatment. It says that it helps speed up blow drying or to reduce frizz.
Review: I love this product! the smell is so lovely; kind of a sweet and spicy vanilla scent. You need to use very little through your hair and it makes your hair so soft. I did try using it by it's self in my curly hair and it didn't really kill much of the frizz but paired with other hair products it holds up well and doesn't make my hair feel greasy. The only down side I'd say is that it's difficult to get the product out of the bottle because you can't squeeze it but I guess that is to prevent you from using too much at one time. I must say I didn't try this out to see if it reduced blow drying time but I'm willing to bet it works.

Product #2: Be a Bombshell Blush in Sweet Cheeks. This is $16 on the Be a Bombshell website.
Coupon Code: 30% off + Free eye shadow
Product Description: It's a light pink shade with a bit of a shimmer.
Review: I really like this color. It seems very bright in the package but it goes on more mellow and it gives you such a sweet pink glow. Upsetting cause the coupon code expired too quickly so I won't able to take advantage of the free eye shadow. Note for the future: take advantage asap.

Product #3: Two Cosmetics Duo Eyeshadow in Heartache. This is currently on sale on the Two Cosmetics website for $5.75.
Coupon Code: 25% off + free lip gloss
Product description: It is two shades of pink. first is a rosy pink that's matte and the other is a light shimmery pink.
Review: These are still a couple of iffy colors for me. I have used them with a variety of base colors and I still feel a bit paranoid that they are making my eyes look tired. I love the concept of sweet, romantic pink eyes so I will continue to experiment with these. Overall I'm happy to have gotten these so I could have the opportunity to play around with pinks.

Product #4: Miss Professional Nail Sation Nail Lacquer in Love at First Byte. This is $5 in the Miss Professional Nails website
Coupon Code: 20% off
Product Description: It's a bit of a salmony pink.
Review: I wore this color twice this month hoping that it would grow on me. I asked nearly everyone what they thought of the color and the rest reaction I got was that it made my fingers look like they are cold. I just wasn't really attached to the color and I probably won't choose to wear it again. It did make a great gift for my mom.

Overall I'm very happy with this months bag. I truly have not real complaint about my ipsy bags so far. I look forward to next months bag, the teasers they've shown on their Facebook page look pretty exciting!

If you are interested in joining Ipsy let me know and I can send you a referral. Of course this is for selfish reasons... I can get a free eye shadow or bracelet with two referrals! If you don't want a referral I still encourage you to sign up. $10 a month is totally worth all the fun products you get to try out.

Beauty Wise Wednesday: April Ipsy Bag reveal

Hello Spring!!! It's April and that means another Ipsy bag has come in the mail. This is my forth Ipsy bag I have gotten. I realize that some people still don't really understand what this whole Ipsy bag thing is, so let me explain. It is a monthly subscription service where I pay $10 every first of the month (it comes out automatically from my account.) You can also pay for the whole year at one time if you want and save a little bit of money. Anyways, I pay the $10 a month and they send me a monthly package that arrives sometime between the 11th and the 14th. The package, as you might have already seen from my blogs, come with 4-5 "sample" beauty products and a custom Ipsy make up bag. I say "sample" products because it seems mostly the products are full sized.

So onto what I got in this months bag: It is a white canvas bag with fuchsia pink, patent leather trim zipper and lined with pink and white stripes.

Coupon Code: 30% off + Free eye shadow
Product Description: It's a light pink shade with a bit of a shimmer.

Product #4: Miss Professional Nail Sation Nail Lacquer in Love at First Byte. This is $5 in the Miss Professional Nails website
Coupon Code: 20% off
Product Description: It's a bit of a salmony pink.

Also included is 30% off MICA Beauty Cosmetics and a 60% off Generation Beauty convention ticket.

Total value of the bag is $31.15 plus the make up bag. I'm pretty excited about this months bag and I hope all the products live up to my excitement.

Beauty Wise Wednesday: Spring Tag

This is a fun tag going around YouTube created by MissGlamorazzi. It's all about spring! I'm excited to do this, but beware, I am not that hip on the latest trends but I'm going to fill this out as best I can.

The Questions!
1. Favorite spring nail polish? 340 Mint Sorbet by Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme wear nail color line. I spotted this in my friends nail polish collection and I just knew I had to wear it for Easter!

2. What is your must-have lip color this spring?  This question is a bit out of my league. I have gone most of my life with a bit of a fear of lip stick or any real lip color. I'm just starting to entertain the idea of wearing lip sticks. I really enjoyed seeing girls with a red lip and I would love to find a lip stain to try out in a safe first-timer red.

3. Show us your favorite spring dress! Well seeing as I am still in maternity pants I haven't been doing much shopping and so I haven't seen many clothes. I did take a peek at the Forever 21 website and found this High-Low Chiffon Cover Up Dress for $19.80. I have loved seeing these dresses that are short in the front longer in the back and I think this would be a dress I would really enjoy wearing. Yes, I know it's a cover up, whateva!

4. What's your favorite flower? My favorite all time flower is the Gerber daisy. It's such a happy flower. I love the structure of the flower. I once had a Gerber daisy plant that had two flowers stuck together, I called them my Siamese flowers. I absolutely loved that plant and I proudly displayed it by my front door until one day when a neighbor stole my plant and smashed it in the parking lot. I was devastated. WHO DOES THAT?!

5. Favorite spring scarf/accessory? Spring is the time where I can finally break out Capri pants and flip flops. I gotta admit I feel most like myself wearing this combo, I wore them for the first time the other day and I felt like a million bucks.

6. What spring trend(s) are you most excited about this year? (Makeup, fashion or both!) Shockingly I'm really loving the neon colors that have come out this spring. Now, I'm not so sure how comfortable I would actually be wearing neon but I think it would be fun to try it out in small splashes maybe.

7. Favorite spring candle? Yet another thing I am not up to date on, but I have had my eye's on the summer candle line at Bath and Body Works. The three wick candles are on my to buy list.

8. Favorite body spray/perfume for spring? I'm going to stick with my go-to scent that I currently have in my bathroom; Sweet Pea from Bath and Body Works.

9. What is spring like where you live? Well the third day of spring we got about an inch and a half of snow, but, typically our spring is just a big rain fest. I constantly tell myself  "April showers bring May flowers" even well into May or sometimes June.

10. What's your favorite thing about spring? My absolute favorite thing about spring is the fact that the days are longer! During the winter it is so depressing having so few hours of daylight that once the days get longer it really lifts my spirit!

11. Are you a spring cleaner? I'm not a spring cleaner but a year round cleaner. I hate clutter so I constantly am getting rid of old things and keeping things organized.

12. Any plans for spring break or an upcoming vacation? Unfortunately I don't have any real vacation time till September because of my maternity leave but I am celebrating both Mat's and Tara's birthday in April and I think I'll be able to enjoy a good amount of time in Seattle and I will be pretending it is a vacation.

So this is my Spring tag! I am going to tag my good friend Kristin over at Cupcakes and Cosmo's and anyone of you guys who would like to try this out. Leave me a comment with a link to your Spring tag cause I'd love to see your answers!

What's in my purse?

I've seen this tag post so many times that I figured I would give it a shot (lets pretend it isn't because I couldn't think of anything else to blog about.) The latest person to do the What's in my Purse is iJustine on YouTube. Now my purse isn't nearly as full or as interesting as hers but I figured I'd do it anyways.

My bag is a classic black and white shoulder strap Coach purse that Mat got for me for my birthday over the summer. I love it cause it is big enough to carry everything around. It also doesn't fall open and spill everything out when I don't close the zipper, which I never do.

Inside I have my fun multicolored Coach wallet that Mat got me for our anniversary. I actually picked this out myself and I just love the colors. I don't know the official name for my purse or wallet cause I'm just not that fashion savvy.

Of course I have my IPhone in my purse, even though if we are completely honest my phone is typically in my pocket or hand.

Fenugreek seed supplements. I keep these in my purse so that I always have them with me when I eat a meal so I can take 2-3. These help with my milk supply which is a constant struggle.

My work keys and manager over ride card. I never take these out of my purse unless I'm at work or I would forget them at home for sure.

Jagermeirter key chain with gym card and house keys.

Post It Note with the dates of upcoming holidays. I typically always have a Post It note in my purse with some tid bit of info on it, I have a terrible memory.

Nailtini nail polish from my first Ipsy bag. It is impossible to paint my nails at home with a nail polish that isn't instant dry so I have this in my purse in hopes to paint my nails while out of the house. Hasn't happened yet.

Work Name tag. Another thing that is always in my purse unless I'm at work or I would forget it.

Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange body butter. Also from my first Ipsy bag. I absolutely love this lotion and when I put it on everyone around really enjoys that smell.

Gloves. I don't wear these very often but I keep them in my purse for the nights I get off work and my windows are frozen and I need to scrap them. I figure if I keep them in my purse rather than in my car they won't be freezing when I do want to wear them.

Nature Valley granola bar. I am always hungry so I carry this in my purse if I need a snack.

My car key. I keep this separate from my other keys because I don't like having the all the keys and key chains hanging from my ignition.

Bath and Body Works body lotion in P.S. I love you. I actually put this in my purse before I got the Pacifica lotion and just haven't taken it out.

Playboy lighter. I used to find myself around people that would need a lighter so I kept this in my purse just in case. I don't seem to need this much these days.

Bath and Body Works Berry Scary anti-bacterial hand gel. Cause you just never know what kind of nasty things you get on your hands.

Carmex. This is the only chap stick I trust to fix my dry lips.

Lips Smackers sparkler vanilla frosting lip gloss. I won this at a baby shower, I don't really use it much but I keep it in my purse just in case I have a moment where I need my lips to have a quick sparkle.

Body Fantasies Apple Fantasy body spray. I actually bought this one day when I was at work cause I was meeting Mat for dinner and I didn't want to smell like work. I figure I'd keep it in there, just in case.

Mini Note pad. You never know when I will want to jot down a note.

Moist Towelette. because, you know sometimes you need one.

and finally two nail files for those pesky broken nails.

Wow, when I list it all out it's surprising how much I carry in my purse.
What do you guys have in your purse right now? Comment below or link a blog post and let me know.

Beauty Wise Wednesday: January Ipsy Review

It's the beginning of a new month and that means that I get to look forward to getting my next Ipsy bag. I'm pretty excited about this next one. I'm able to see previews from their facebook page and it's all make up. I won't spoil what they are until I write my unveiling of it.

Before I get my new bag, however, I want to share my reviews of the products from my first Ipsy bag in January.

**Product #1: SOHO Crease brush: $8.50 on sohobeauty.com
Review: I was very excited to get a brush in this months bag. I have a minimal collection of brushes so this was a great addition. It is pretty fluffy so it was hard to really get a defined area. I did enjoy using it however and maybe it just takes a bit more getting used to. Not sure if I would buy these brushes again, I want to try some other brands first.

**Product #2: Big Sexy Hair Spray and Play 1.5oz:$10.18 on verbenaproducts.com
Review: I typically don't wear hair spray I actually only tried this once this month. I found that it had a great hold for my entire 8 hour shift at work yet didn't feel too crunchy. Also when I pulled my hair back into a pony tail after it didn't flake or powder. I think I would like to try out some of their other products for sure.

**Product #3: Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange BodyButter 2.5oz: $7 on pacificaperfume.com
Review: I can't say enough great things about this lotion! It has the most amazing, fresh scent! I got so many compliments on the smell throughout the month. It also does a great job at moisturizing. Soaks quickly into the skin and doesn't leave an annoying oily finish that I'm not a fan of. I think I will be using the discount they gave to buy more products. I want to check out their candles for sure, if they smell as great as the lotion they will be amazing.

**Product #4: Nailtini nail lacquer in Frappe: $13 on tinibeauty.com
Review: I really enjoyed this nail polish. It was very smooth going on. I liked the brush, it made it easy to paint my nail in just a few strokes (I have large nail beds and that is important.) I only wore it once this month but when I did it seemed to last a good amount of time without chipping. I think I will for sure be using the discount I got in the Ipsy bag.

**Product #5: Josie Maran %100 pure Argan oil .17oz: .5oz is $14 on sephora.com ~$2.80 for this sample size.
Review: Now this product was a new concept for me. I have always shied away from oils cause I have combination shin. I wanted to try it out as a face moisturiser mostly. I took me a while to figure out the right amount to apply. The oil goes on smoothly and actually doesn't leave your skin feeling greasy at all. I have dry patches of skin in the T zone and although this product says it is good for all skin types I didn't feel like it helped with the dry skin at all. I started putting on a night moisturizing cream to help with the dry skin. Overall I don't think I would purchase this product. It is pretty pricey and I think I can find other products that do a better job. I'll use the rest of the sample as a cuticle oil.

Overall I was very happy with my first Ipsy Bag! It was so much fun to try things that I wouldn't have tried on my own. I can't wait to get my next bag and share it with all of you!

Beauty Wise Wednesday: My Epsy Bag!

As I said before I want to start getting more into beauty products but I dislike wasting money on things I end up hating. Well the Ipsy bag is the answer to that! Plus, what is more fun than getting a bright pink bag in the mailvevery month?

I signed up for the bag in the end of December. They charged me the $10 on the first of January then sent out the package (according to my tracking number through USPS) on January 10th. The estimated delivery date was the 14th. Its eemed to get delayed for a couple days; I ended up getting my bag on the 18th.** Note my two friends also signed up for the ipsy bags in December with me,one friend got hers a couple days before me and another friend had yet to gethers now on the 23rd. We all live in the same apartment complex**

I want to do a reveal blog each month to let you guys know what I got in my bag and what the value of the bag is. Then later that month before I get my new bag I hope to do a review blog of the products.

This month’s bag is a very dark navy blue vinyl outside with a silver zipper pull. Inside is blue with white stars and an ipsy tag stitched into it. A very cute simple bag you could fit into a bigger purse.

*The package describes this brush: "The SOHO Crease Brush has soft and fluffy bristles tapered to a slight point, perfect for applying eye shadow to the crease of your eye. It's also ideal for blending multiple shades of eyeshadow together.
*my first impression: very soft. i haven't noticed the benefit of the ergonomic design.

Product #2: Big Sexy Hair Spray and Play 1.5oz:$10.18 on verbenaproducts.com ($5 e-coupon)
*Doesn't have a package description besides saying it is a volumizing hairspray, which I guess is pretty self-explanatory.
*my first impression: leaves the hair a bit stiff but did last all day.

Product #3: Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange BodyButter 2.5oz: $7 on pacificaperfume.com (save 20% online)
*The package describes: sparkling, juicyblood orange with notes of red raspberry and spicy sweet mandarins. The scent of the Mediterranean beach.

Beauty Wise Wednesday: Nail Polish Review

I want to start experimenting with beauty products but in an affordable way. To keep me motivated I've decided to bring my blog readers along for the ride as I discover new products. **A bit of a disclaimer I am extremely inexperienced with beauty products.** As a teenager I loved doing all my friends make up and hair but as I grew older and started paying for things on my own I discovered how expensive beauty products can be. I got discouraged from trying new things because I would spend the money on a product and then discover I didn't like it and be frustrated that I was out the money. As I move forward in my career and as an adult I realize how important your appearance can be (as shallow as it may sound) so I am going to try and find my own style, while reviewing products on my blog.

My first beauty product review is a simple one. NYC nail polish in 212 Mulberry Street. This is a sparkly nude tone. This nail polish says it claims it will dry in a minute and I have to say it lives up to it's claim. I love that because I have to do my nails between feeding Sloane and with a regular nail polish it would never be dry enough by the time she started getting fussy.

I painted two coats on my nails and then soon after took a shower. Now I will say there was a little bit of marking on my nails from the shower but not nearly as much as a regular polish. I painted a third coat on after my shower and my nails looked flawless. (well as flawless as I can get them) The polish is thin so it will dry quickly and it goes on quite smoothly.  It is a nice light pearl color with just a mild sparkle, which I really like and think would be a great color for any occasion.

The nail polish lasted a week without chipping. I then decided to change my nail color so I'm not sure just how long the polish would last but I'm thinking till it wore off, rather than chipping. The next nail polish I put on wasn't a quick dry and it was a disaster! Sloane of course woke up just as I was getting my nails done. I redid them once she was asleep again, let them dry (or so I thought) and went to bed. When I woke up I had imprints in the polish. Looks like I'll be sticking with the quick dry stuff for now on.
