The Color Run Eve

Well tomorrow is our Color Run 5K. I'm doing it with my best friend Kristin. This will be her first 5K and it will be my first one back after having Sloane. I have to admit that we didn't do very good at preparing for this but luckily it is a fun run where they don't time you and they even allow people with strollers to run. I won't be running with Sloane cause I don't really want to have to worry about getting one of our strollers destroyed with paint.

One thing I have done to prepare is to make sure I'm doing the stretches that my foot Dr gave me. I had plantar fasciitis a while ago and I finally went to a foot Dr. Luckily enough we gave me three stretches that really helped out not only the plantar fasciitis but also the cramps I get in my feet when I run or walk fast.

We tried going to the gym a few times but that didn't really workout cause when it's sunny outside it's really hard to want to go to the gym. Last week we did make it to Green Lake where I had run a 5K previously so I knew the path to make it a 5K. We did that and sis just fine. I think we will pick up the pace for the actual race but at least we know that we won't die at least.

I'm really looking forward to this run. Not only cause it is just going to be super fun getting paint powder tossed on us but also I think it will give me the kick in my ass to actually start working toward getting off the baby weight. I'll admit right now I even gained weight after giving birth because I just couldn't eat enough then breast feeding. Now that Sloane is 100% formula I have actually been able to control my appetite and I have now gone 2 days in a row counting calories (this is sad but exciting because I hadn't been able to do that since Sloane was born)

Today Kristin and I are off to Seattle to pick up our race packets and then we are going to spend the day in Seattle with Sloane just enjoying the awesome sun we have had lately.

Things to do before I'm 30: UPDATE

Well it is just three short months until my birthday. I'll be turning 29, giving me just one year to complete my goals on my list of things to do before I turn 30... I have written one update post about two and a half years ago HERE. The original list was written in 2008, you can read it HERE.

So now I want to update this list and see what I really want to work towards in my last year of being 20-something.

*Party like a rock star: Well I defiantly haven't done this but this doesn't really seem like much of a priority anymore. I have had some pretty fun nights out and I'd say the closest I've come to partying like a rock start would be at Tony's 30th birthday where we had a party bus and a reserved area at Last Supper Club and bottle service.

*Full day at a spa: Still haven't done this and I would LOVE to make this a priority this last year. DO any of you guys have any tips on where to go?

*Lose 50lbs: This has happened a couple times but then I have gained it back... I still want have is as a priority this year. I will do it! maybe the spa day will be my reward!

*Have a kid: well I've accomplished this! I wasn't exactly a planned thing to accomplish when I did but I couldn't be happier with my life and being a mommy. Sloane is the greatest thing that's ever happened to me!

*Spoil my mom: This is another thing I really would love to be able to do! I think my goal would be to send my mom and dad to Vegas with a couple hundred dollars of spending money. They deserve a fun vacation and it just isn't really possible for them.

*Meet my dad: This is something that is always in the back of my mind. I have actually become friends with him on facebook which is the most contact I can ever remember me having with him in my life. I haven't actually talked to him over facebook and I'm not so sure how I wanna go about starting that but maybe by 30 I'll have made some progress.

*Better my credit: this is actually a work in progress. The main issue is y student loans and those probably won't be paid off by the time I'm 30.

*Week long vacation out of the country: This is something I don't see happening before I am 30 now that I have a child, but I'm OK with that. I would love to travel out of the country but when Sloane is older and she will be able to enjoy the travel as well.

*Have a savings: Well this isn't such a possibility right now because I am trying to improve my credit I have little money to save. I do need to make a saving account for Sloane a priority however!

*Climb a rock wall: This is a great goal to work towards in the next year. It can go hand in hand with losing 50+ lbs.

*Be at least a second assistant: This is accomplished... I'd like to update this to at least be in RLD and near becoming an Assistant manager.

*Wear a pair of designer shoes with a little black dress: Let's tie this all together and this will be the 30th birthday party outfit, after I lose 50+ lbs. I will also attend a spa and climb a rock wall on my 30th birthday too!

*Volunteer regularly: Well I volunteer as much as I can right now between working and being a mommy. I volunteer through Safeway and do nearly all the volunteer opportunities they have to offer. When Sloane is older I will make this a priority because I want her to understand how important volunteering is.

Getting back into shape

When I found out I was pregnant I was actually in the middle of a weight loss competition at my gym. I was working out about 5 times a week or more, and losing weight like a champ! When I found out I was pregnant it was a bit of a shock and so I promptly quit working out cause I was a bit freaked out, then followed morning (all day) sickness then bed rest. Needless to say I went from being in pretty good shape to gaining 30 lbs and a baby!

All through my pregnancy I was so ready to go back to the gym and start dieting again. Little did I know it would be much harder than I imagined. Breast feeding has made it so I basically feel starving all the time. I haven't felt full since I gave birth! I also don't have the best milk supply so I'm worried to restrict my diet and it having an effect of my supply.

It's also been very hard to find time to go to the gym, where I have someone who can watch Sloane. I have been to the gym a few times and each time I go I just feel amazing. I made myself a deal that the days I get off work at 10pm I would go to the gym after. Of course the next week my work decided that they want me to close more often, so I've gone to 4 days of getting off at 10pm to maybe one or two and the rest I get off at midnight!

Now I'm trying not to let this disrupt my motivation but it is amazing how many road blocks I have in my way! I would love to look into getting a jogging stroller so that I could just jog outside with Sloane but right now that just isn't in the budget, plus it is hard when it rains so much here.

I have however signed up for my first 5K after giving birth. It is The Color Run, May 12th in Seattle. It isn't a 5K that you would necessarily use to improve your 5K time, but I think that is perfect for my first time back! I've done a few 5K's in the year before getting pregnant and I absolutely love them! They give me great motivation while working out, a goal to work towards is a nice thing to have.

Now I just need to figure out some way to get my ass into the gym more often, and hopefully this weight will start coming off. I also need to be in shape for once Sloane starts walking cause we know I'll be chasing her around everywhere, and a fat mommy is an exhausted mommy! Plus, I really want to take advantage of the extra calories I burn while breast feeding!
